DESCRIPTION AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle
Oil (MCV) is a premium oil designed for those who
demand the absolute best lubrication for their
motorcycles. AMSOIL MCV is the result of extensive

temperatures of air-cooled engines such as Harley
Davidson® V-Twin, wet clutch lubrication, extreme

both domestic and foreign motorcycles. It

Reduces
Friction, Heat and Wear In high heat
conditions, engine protection is not sacrificed
with AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oil. It has the
best high temperature film strength (see High
Temperature Viscosity Protection graph below) of
all oils tested and contains a heavy treatment of
anti-wear additives to reduce wear regardless of

Extreme Pressure Quality Protection for Gears and

need for separate transmission or primary

Delivers
Superior Rust Protection Motorcycles
are prone to rust from storage, humidity and short
drives. Rust can cause major damage such as roller
bearing failure, uncontrolled wear, compression
loss and blow-by. Good rust protection, however,
comes by design and is not natural to engine oils.
Unlike many motorcycle oils, AMSOIL MCV contains
special anti-rust agents. It passes the ASTM
D-1748 humidity cabinet rust test and clearly
demonstrates superior rust protection (see photos
below).

Provides Excellent
Wet Clutch Performance AMSOIL MCV contains
no friction modifiers and promotes smooth shifting
and positive clutch engagement. AMSOIL MCV
controls heat and prevents slippage and glazing,
and its high TBN resists acids that can degrade
clutch material, helping improve clutch
life.
APPLICATIONS AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil
is recommended for air or liquid cooled 4-stroke
engines. It meets SAE 90, API GL-1 gear oil
requirements and is recommended for transmissions
and primary chaincases. AMSOIL MCV is recommended
for Harley Davidson®, Buell®, KTM, Ducati®,
Aprilia®, BMW®, Triumph® and other motorcycles
where 15W-50 or 20W-50 engine oils or SAE 90, GL-1
gear oils are used. Not recommended where an API
GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required.
MIXING
AMSOIL AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle
Oil is compatible with conventional and synthetic
motor oils; however, mixing oils may shorten the
oil life expectancy and reduce the performance
benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain
intervals where oils have been mixed.
Aftermarket oil
additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL
motorcycle oil.
SERVICE
LIFE Recommended for use up to twice the
motorcycle manufacturer change interval
(miles/hours) or one year, whichever comes first,
in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases.
For Big Twin Harley-Davidson transmissions only,
follow the Harley-Davidson recommended drain
interval for synthetic oil of up to 20,000 miles
or one year, whichever comes first. When using an
engine filter other than AMSOIL Ea, change the
filter at standard intervals.
For “off-road” use,
change AMSOIL MCV at motorcycle manufacturer
intervals.
Racing or modified
engines are excluded from extended drain interval
recommendations. Oil changes are at the owner’s
discretion.

Peter Virgona of Merrick, NY is a self-proclaimed oil enthusiast.
“I do a great deal of reading and research, always looking for the best oil,”
Virgona said. “The more I read the more I realized AMSOIL was the best ‘true’
synthetic I could buy. After using Mobil 1 since 1986, I made the switch to
AMSOIL.”
Virgona drives a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria with nearly 98,000 miles on the engine.
He switched from Mobil 1 to AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil.
“The difference was immediate and signifi - cant,” Virgona said. “The idle
became much smoother. There are times I can’t tell if the car is running. It
also became much more responsive to the gas pedal, so much more responsive my
wife asked me what I did to the car.”
He has owned the car for almost nine years. “Not surprisingly, the gas mileage
improved signifi cantly,” he said. “This car always averaged 15 mpg going back
and forth from work. It now averages 16.5 mpg. That’s a 10 percent increase.
I truly didn’t expect such a big change.”
He waited to report his fi ndings until after he had driven the car at least
5,000 miles “to confi rm that the numbers are average and not just a fl uke.”
Virgona also installed AMSOIL 5W-30 in his sister-in-law’s 1996 Dodge Caravan
with a 3.0 litre V6 engine. She had always used conventional motor oil with
regular oil changes every 3,000 miles, Virgona said.
“Nonetheless, she had a signifi cant amount of sludge that was obvious under
the oil cap,” he said. “She also experienced a very loud lifter noise that would
come and go with the engine either hot or cold. Presumably the sludge was affecting
the oil circulation to the lifters.”
Oil consumption in the van was increasing, using about one quart every 1,500
to 2,000 miles.
“I switched her to AMSOIL and put in a new fi lter,” Virgona said. “Within
1,000 miles the lifter noise was all but gone. By 3,000 miles, virtually all
the sludge was gone. I drained and refi lled the oil a second time with AMSOIL
5W-30. The oil consumption is now down to one quart every 3,000 miles, with
no more lifter noise. And, except for a little yellow varnish, all the sludge
is gone.
“I am very happy with AMSOIL and plan to use it from now on. I recommend it
to anyone who wants a great synthetic oil.”
Virgona just had a case shipped to his father-in-law in Florida because he
believes in AMSOIL products, he said, and wants others to experience their benefi
